Karl Jeanbart is the COO and co-founder of Derq, an award-winning MIT-spinoff with a mission to eliminate road accidents and save lives by using proprietary AI algorithms. Derq was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Dubai and Michigan, in 2017 was selected to join the prestigious Techstars Mobility program in Detroit, and in 2019 won the best AI startup prize at the globally renowned SXSW conference. A former management consultant with Oliver Wyman, Karl advised ministers and senior executives on strategy and organizational matters in regulated industries, financial services and public sector. Karl also has previous engineering and product development experience with major EPC firms, Utilities and other Fortune 500 companies including SNC-Lavalin, Johnson Controls and Lafarge. Karl completed a Mechanical Engineering degree from McGill University with focuses on Finance and Entrepreneurship and graduate studies in Business Analytics applied to Energy. He is also a registered Professional Engineer with the Order of Engineers in Quebec, Canada.
