The AI revolution is underway and will profoundly change our lives and how we work. Many, if not most, companies, governments, and other organizations are investigating, testing, developing and using AI. It’s impossible to overstate the growing influence that AI will have. Years of research and development have made this technology ubiquitous. Institutions around the world are laying the groundwork to capitalize on its benefits. They are upskilling their workers, implementing experimental sandboxes and leveraging foundational models through APIs and open-source code.

Public-private collaborations are crucial for driving the next wave of AI-powered innovations. AI is rapidly transforming industries, and no single sector can tackle its challenges or fully realize its potential in isolation. Governments, research institutions, and private companies each play unique yet complementary roles. Governments provide regulatory support, fund foundational research, and create experimental frameworks, while private companies bring expertise in scaling and commercializing innovations.

The speed of AI adoption is critical—organizations that fail to keep pace risk falling behind in this fast-evolving, AI-driven world. The rapid advancement of AI will also mean that we need to look at new ways to build and design the network infrastructure.

3. How is your business adopting and integrating AI innovation?

We are embracing responsible AI as a fundamental technology in the development of our products and services, backed by years of strong research from Nokia Bell Labs. Our vision for 2030 is centered on ubiquitous AI, integrated from the infrastructure layer all the way to network management and applications. We are committed to helping our clients evolve their network infrastructure and operational capabilities to fully harness the transformative opportunities AI presents for future success.  

Nokia plays a crucial role in designing the cloud and data center networks needed for the AI era. By designing networks that are both powered by AI and optimized for AI, we are enhancing operational intelligence and decision-making capabilities. This strategic approach positions us—and our clients—to fully capitalize on AI’s potential, ensuring continued success in an ever-evolving, tech-driven landscape.

4. Beyond AI, what innovations do you believe will shape the future of your industry, and which regions do you foresee leading these advancements by 2025?

Nokia has presented its Technology Strategy 2030 that identifies trends and emerging technologies that will shape technology, networks and the world for the next seven years. According to our Global Network Traffic 2030 report, network traffic is growing and will rise dramatically over this decade. Driving this growth are recent trends such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), extended reality (XR), digital twins, automation, and billions of devices. To capitalize on the exponential potential of these technologies to solve tomorrow’s greatest challenges, networks will need to adapt and transform. Delivering lasting, accessible, sustainable innovation hinges on reliable, secure, cognitive networks.

Nokia’s Technology Strategy 2030 identifies the trends and emerging technologies that will impact the networks of service providers, enterprises and industries over this decade, and how Nokia will help networks evolve. The key trends influencing Nokia’s Technology Strategy 2030 are AI, cloud continuum, metaverse, API economy, Industry 5.0, Internet of value, sustainability, and security. These trends will all rely on ultra-responsive and secure networks at their core.

5. What are your motivations and expectations for coming onboard the 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL in 2024?

Our participation in GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is motivated by the opportunity to connect with global tech leaders and showcase our position as a key player in the connectivity space.
