1. How is the rapid advancement of AI technologies influencing your industry sector? + How is your business adopting and integrating AI innovation?
There are two vectors of how development of AI technology influences the information security sphere. On the one hand, AI-related technology is implemented by fraudsters in order to create audio&video deepfakes, for creation of more advanced phishing emails. They use AI Chatbots for fraud correspondence and other malicious purposes.
On the other side, developers of solutions for protection against internal and external threats implement AI-related technology for ensuring protection. For example, we at SearchInform, which specializes in ensuring protection against internal threats, implement AI to efficiently deal with the task of user recognition by face (in order to prevent illicit cases of third-party users accessing workstation); for detecting monitor photographing attempts (prevention of data leaks via smartphone); for conversion of sound into text.
AI-related technology contributes to the aim of information security sphere development, as it efficiently solves a few practical tasks, automates monitoring processes (what significantly reduces risk, that an information security officer will make a mistake), complements functionality of traditional systems, thus, contributing to the aim of overall enhancement of organizations’ protection.
Simultaneously, it’s required to keep in mind, that AI is not universal, implementation of AI-related technology doesn’t ensure 100% guarantee of success in dealing with any tasks. When it comes to internal information security, AI lacks the cognitive capabilities to prevent data leaks. This means not all the aspects of security can be entrusted to AI.
It’s required to simultaneously implement alternative technology, which time-tested reliability is confirmed by practice.
2. Beyond AI, what innovations do you believe will shape the future of your industry and which regions do you foresee leading these advancements by 2025?
There are two major innovative areas in the sphere of internal threat protection, which will shape the future of the industry.
The first trend – graduate transition to complex risk management platforms. This means that protective solutions will simultaneously and equally efficiently deal with user-centric&human-centric security: ensure monitoring of data at rest and in motion, monitor user activity, detect threats in a timely manner and prevent incident occurrence.
The second trend – surge in Managed Security Services adoption. Previously it was required to purchase protective software licenses & hardware, hire onboard experienced IS officer. However, today, it’s enough to sign an agreement with service provider and explain the priorities of control & protection – you’ll get the full-scale protection turnkey. This is especially actual, considering the current circumstances: the amount of digitalized data continues to increase steadily and there is a severe lack of information security officers globally. Outsourcing helps to deal with this task – MSSPs provide customers with dedicated analysts, who deploy and configure protective software, ensure monitoring, prevent incidents and provide customer with detailed reports on what’s actually happening in the organization.
Besides, information security outsourcing makes data protection available even for SMBs, which had been unavailable to afford it previously. Information security by subscription is cheaper, more reliable, this model enables to avoid additional expenditures and doesn’t require hiring an information security officer onboard.
3. What are your motivations and expectations for coming onboard the 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL in 2024?
This year we expect to expand the network of useful contacts, negotiate with potential customers of the service, share best practices of ensuring protection against internal threats. I’m sure, that 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL will help us to expand our presence in the MENA region and deliver our practice to wide range of customers.
4. Are you planning to launch any products or services, showcase new technologies, or announce partnerships during the event?
This year we’ll offer visitors our Managed Security Services for internal threat protection. Last year we set a trend in the sphere of Managed Security Services and introduced the solution, ensuring customers’ protection against the widest range of internal threats, ranging from data leak & corporate fraud prevention to compliance with regulatory requirements and revelation of systematic idleness, requiring zero labor costs from the customers to the market. All is available within subscription. Our MSS makes information security more available, still doesn’t have analogues on the market and has yet evoked a strong response from the local customers.
5. As a global platform for tech enterprises and industry leaders, how does GITEX GLOBAL contribute to the future of your industry?
GITEX Global – the largest IT event in the world, the leading platform for networking, exchange of experience and revealing game-changing practices. Information security has been an integral part of business, directly related to its overall success for a while. GITEX event is also focused on information security related issues. GITEX GLOBAL allows vendors and service providers in the field of information security to reveal the current threats, share best practices for incident prevention and risk mitigation, present their solutions and learn more about the needs of customers.
Visitors on-site in an offline format can ask questions, exchange experiences and wishes. Such a dialogue promotes closer interaction between customers and vendors, bolster more active implementation of protective solutions and enhance overall protection of companies and organizations, enables vendors to fine-tune and develop their solutions, adding new functionality to them in accordance with the requirements and wishes of customers.
