Panel Discussion : Taking on MENA's Micromobility Challenge with E-Scooters
As MENA cities continue to grow and develop, public transportation infrastructure has struggled to keep up. However, even the best connected global cities face first mile/last mile challenges. Not everyone lives or works within walking distance of a transit station or bus stop which results in traffic congestion, parking problems, and pollution. An emerging solution progressive cities are looking towards to solve first mile/last mile challenges is enhancing micromobility options. With the right enabling regulations, micromobility options, such as e-scooters and electric bikes, can play a potentially strong role in filling in the gaps while MENA cities continue to invest in dependable public transit. While some cities have suffered growing pains because of concerns over safety, proper parking, and etiquette, MENA cities can learn from the first pioneers of micromobility to coordinate with micromobility companies and the public earlier to provide communities with safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly alternatives to cars.
