Midis Named Among New Champions Group, An Economic Taskforce Unveiled by The World Economic Forum
As the premier international organization for public-private co-operation, the World Economic Forum recently moved to change the way it works across the world with member governments, companies and agencies. As a result of this, it has invited Midis Group, already a member of the Forum’s Global Growth Companies initiative, to join the inaugural New Champions group.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Forum will pioneer a new operating model for members that is more agile and digital, thereby allowing them to maximize the value of their engagement with the Forum. Building on the Forum’s digital platform and extensive knowledge resources will enable new and sustained opportunities for member companies to gather insights and make the connections needed to respond to current disruptions and prepare for the future.
“We have now had a long and productive relationship with the World Economic Forum, said Nabil Bustros, CEO and Chairman, Midis Group. “In these challenging times, it is important for Midis to intensify those ties and, with the WEF, our responsiveness to the communities we serve all across emerging EMEA. Technology is playing a more vital role than ever in mitigating and navigating this crisis. As technology providers to nearly 90 countries, we can play a special role, reinforced by the WEF, in getting through it.”
New Champions core opportunities
1. Community: Leverage the value of community networking and matchmaking opportunities, meeting with peers and global experts.
2. Intelligence: Maximize the Forum’s knowledge resources via the Strategic Intelligence platform, which is designed to help shape organizational strategy.
3. Interaction: Engaging throughout 2020 in both virtual and in-person meetings as well as Strategic Intelligence Briefings.
The WEF expressed thanks to Midis Group for its continuing support and engagement. As the global business community reacts to the Covid-19 pandemic, the WEF Forum, in turn, is taking significant steps to support Forum members, a diverse group of forward-looking companies, in their efforts to navigate the pandemic and emerge stronger than before.
In 2006 Midis Group was among the inaugural 100 honourees of the World Economic Forum Global Growth Companies initiative, recognizing small to mid-sized companies that have a track record of leadership and, above all, exemplary corporate global citizenship.
At the time, the Forum announced these fast-growing businesses, many based in emerging economies, are set to be leading multinationals within a decade. True to the prediction, the Midis Group culture of integrity, trust and innovation fostered sustainable expansion, growing from 99 to 168 affiliates and achieving a three-fold increase in turnover, including 12% compound annual growth from 2008 to 2018.
Midis Group continues to build connections brought through World Economic Forum recognition and joins in its deep commitment to improving the state of the world.
