Custom design and build, modular data centre now available to customers at additional campus sites globally
London, UK, 13th October 2013: data city exchange (dce), the innovative data centre solutions provider, will be showcasing their modular Evo-POD™ range at GITEX Technology week in Dubai. The dce team wil be in GulfComms Hall on stand Z-F22
Created by dce as a true alternative to a ‘bricks and mortar’ data centre, the Evo-POD™ is the world’s most scalable, low power usage effectiveness (PUE) modular data centre, featuring a highly flexible resilient power and cooling solution as used in the multi award winning ARM data centre project in Cambridge, UK, which was installed by 2bm, dce’s Evo-POD™ delivery partner, in 2012.
Evo-POD™ is currently available to customers at dce UK campus sites, such as the recently completed 11MW Central Exchange campus in Birmingham, which is now complete and ready for tenancy, or the upcoming 30MW Evo-POD™ campus site in South East UK near London.
Evo-POD™ can also be delivered and built globally, across the dce network of compatible partner data centre sites and at customer proprietary sites, and can be integrated into existing buildings or alternatively deployed as a standalone external data centre. Unlike pre-fabricated container data centres, the Evo-POD™, is custom designed to customer requirements and rapidly deployed and built on site within 20-24 weeks, depending on location.
Of significant interest for visitors at GITEX Technology week in particular, will be the upcoming availability of Evo-POD™ at data centre sites across EMEA. dce will also discuss with GITEX visitors the ability to deploy Evo-POD™ at a data centre site in Istanbul, Turkey. Custom Evo-POD™ data centres could be built, commissioned and active for customers at the Istanbul site as early as May 2014, with more sites following across the EMEA region in the next 12-18 months.
John Eland, CEO of dce said “ we are delighted to be able to offer customers Evo-POD™ in a secure, outsource, data centre environment in Istanbul. Customers placing orders now could be able to be operational as early as May 2014. We are also looking to add further Evo-POD™ site availability across key locations in the Middle East region including Dubai.
The innovative modular cooling design of the Evo-POD™ allows customers to fully customise their solution with options for evaporative air, adiabatic and rear door liquid cooling allowing the solution to be adapted to fit any regional environment whilst simultaneously providing the customer an identical internal whitespace footprint regardless of geographical location or local campus facility it is deployed in. Evo-POD™ supports low and high-density requirements from 2kW to 27.5kW in standard designs (requirements in excess of 30kW per rack can be supported in required).
“Evo-POD™ can be customised and deployed to suit any local environment or market conditions thus enabling customers to deploy a homogenous, identical hosting environment across multiple geographies overcoming the typical issues of trying to standardise” said Eland, “ the engineering design flexibility of Evo-POD™ is a major USP. Outside of our standard range, customers can still order bespoke versions customised to their exact size, power and cooling requirements and can even specify their own choice of hardware manufacturers kit and we will engineer and integrate into the final solution”
Each Evo-POD™ can be built as scalable and upgradable within the same footprint or as a fixed density as required by the customer. For example a 96 rack Evo-POD™ could be delivered as 400kW initially with the ability to seamlessly scale up to 800kW and 1.2MW, within the same 96 rack footprint allowing for future increased cooling capacity demands.
data city exchange (dce) data centre designer and operator providing customisable modular data centre solutions to the global market. Founded in 2008, dce offers customers innovative, scalable and highly energy efficient data centres based on its unique Evo-POD™ design and flexible opex-based service offering. dce is headquartered in UK and operates an 11MW campus facility, Central Exchange, in Birmingham. A further UK campus site will be announced in Q4 2013 along with new Evo-POD™ sites in EMEA and there are plans for significant global expansion by 2016.
dce have built full size 96 rack Evo-POD™ facility at their flagship tier 3 Central Exchange campus site in Birmingham allowing prospective customers to view an Evo-POD™ and test hardware, software and latency in a live environment prior to making any form of commitment.
